1. San Diego Padres (40-28) Winners of three of their last four series. - San Diego is 26-12 after shutting out their last opponent.
2. Arizona Diamondbacks (40-30) Steady pitching from former Cy Young award winners Randy Johnson and Brandon Webb keeping D’backs in the race. - The D-backs are 21-37 at home after a win in which they scored at least six runs.
3. Atlanta Braves (37-33) The Tomahawks still finding ways to win without Chipper Jones. - Atlanta is 23-10 L/33 at home vs a right handed starter.
4. Milwaukee Brewers (38-31) The Prince still swinging as the Brew Crew take four of six last week. - Milwaukee is 17-30-2 O/U after a win in which they used 5+ pitchers.
5. New York Mets (37-30) Mets reeling after fast start, just three of their last fifteen this month. - The Mets are 1-11 O/U when Orlando Hernandez starts as a home favorite.
6. Los Angeles Dodgers (39-30) Dodgers in three way battle for NL West supremacy, need their top hurlers Steve Penny and Derek Lowe to stay competitive in the West. - The Dodgers are 14-25 L/39 as an favorite vs. a team that has a better record.
7. Philadelphia Phillies (36-33)Cole Hamels is the best young thrower in the NL. Pitching rotation still hanging in the East but need Garcia and Myers back from DL. - Philadelphia are 8-1 L/9 on the road vs a team with a winning record.

10. Chicago Cubs (31-37)Alfonso Sarianos bat comes back to life,unfortunately the loss of slugger Derek Lee will hurt the Cubbies. - Chicago is 8-0 L/8 against a starting pitcher with a 1.30 WHIP or better.
11. Florida Marlins (33-37) After two straight losses for the D-Train( Dontrelle Willis), pundits are wondering if this is a sign of things to come ,or is it just a temporary derailment. - The Marlins are 13-6 L/19 as road underdogs.
12. San Francisco Giants (30-38) The Giants can’t win for rookie Tim Lincecum. - The Giants are 8-16 as a home favorite after a loss in which they used 5+ pitchers.
13. Houston Astros (30-39) Off a sweep of the Mariners, need to keep momentum going. - The Astros are 8-21 L/29 on the road.

4. Detroit Tigers (39-29) – Gary Sheffield still producing, Motown Tabbies just a few weeks away from taking command of AL Central. - The Tigers are 32-11 as a -140 or more favorite in the first game of the series.
5. New York Yankees (35-32) - Hottest team in A.L. at present winning 13-of-16 since start of month. - The Pinstripes are 14-2 ’Under’ when Chien-Ming Wang starts as a home favorite of -150 to -200.
6. Oakland Athletics (37-31) -Hurler Dan Haren leads the A’s and the A.L. with his 1.64 ERA. - Oakland is 62-24 in the last game of the series when they are off a win.
7. Seattle Mariners (35-31) - Had previously won five on the bounce until latest five game skid. - Seattle is 13-4 L/17 vs LHP starter this season.
8. Minnesota Twins (34-33) - Twins waiting the 2007 arrival of former Cy Young award winner Johan Santana. - Minnesota are 12-27-3 O/U after allowing 2 runs or less.
9. Toronto Blue Jays (33-35) - Roy Halladay pitches three quality starts from four appearances since return from DL. - he Blue Jays are 6-21 O/U at home off a 5 or more run win.
10. Tampa Bay Devil Rays (30-37) – Pitcher James Shields has made giant strides from last season. This is a team on the rise. - The D-Rays are 17-36 off a SU win.
11. Baltimore Orioles (29-40) - Eight straight losses and five straight series losses. Change in coach imminent. - Baltimore is 13-33 on the road after a one run loss.
12. Chicago White Sox (28-37) - Last won a series back in May 21-23 and only won four of last 21 played. Ozzie looking for a new job? - The Pale Hose are 1-12 L/13 after allowing 5 runs in a previous game.
13. Kansas City Royals (28-42) – Surprising but inconsistent. You never know what you will get when this team takes to the field. - The Royals 54-111 L/165 vs a right handed starter on the road.
14. Texas Rangers (26-43) The loss of slugger Mark Teixeira for a few weeks or even traded away at the deadline leaves the Rangers clinging on to nothing, not even hope. - The Rangers are 8-31 L/39 playing as a home underdog of +100 or more .
